Create a Polaroid image design

Hey ya’ll I’m going to show you how to create a nice and cool Polaroid design. Well this is a really unique designing style that can be really useful when it comes to creative designing. Everyone thinks that this is a hard design to make, it’s really easily actually. From this tutorial I’m going to show you how to do this in simple easy steps so let’s get started.

Step 01

Create a new document in Photoshop. Size is totally up to you it depends on what kind a design you are creating. I’m going to create my one in 500 x 800 because I’m creating a poster like something. You can be creative with the background I’m a gray fan so I’m using a light gray color for my design.

Step 02

It’s time to create the Polaroid now to do that take the rectangle tool out (U) and draw a nice rectangle you know a Polaroid shape one Don’t really worry about the color because we are going to use a gradient over it. You should draw something like this.

Its time apply some effects to our shape. As you know in order to do that we got to go to the blending options of that layer. To do  that take out the blending option of that layer by simply double clicking on it on the layer patter or right click on the layer, click on the blending option tab. After you get that out apply the following effects to it.

Now you should have something like this

Step 03

Now let’s draw the image area in our Polaroid. Same thing again take out the rectangle tool (U) select the color black and draw a rectangle in the Polaroid we drew before. You should have something like this when you are done with that.

Step 04

This is the Fun Part. Now first thing we going do here is we are going to make our shape layers in to one layer. Most of us know how to do that, just select both layer in layer pallet and then right click and click on the merge layers in the popup menu.

When you get this done we will have our Polaroid in one single layer. Now the fun begins we have to duplicate out Polaroid layer and make a mess of Polaroids. how we duplicate the Polaroids? that’s easy  press an arrow key while holding down the Alt key. In that way you can make all the copies you want. Now have fun throw the Polaroids here and there, rotate em just make a huge mess like this.

Now we got turn all those layers in to a single layer just like we did before. Select all the Polaroid layers right click and merge layer.

Step 05

Now select all the black parts of those Polaroids. For that take the Magic Wand Tool (W) and start clicking on the black areas while holding the Shift key on your keyboard. Make sure you select all the black areas and only them.  After you get that done copy (Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) all those black areas. It will make a new layer like this.

Now load your favorite image in to your document. I’m using a mega mind poster because I’m n love with that movie you can import your favorite image and make sure you cover the whole canvas, like this

When you are ready to get blown off, do this. While making sure that your image layer is above all the layers in layer pallet, move your courser between the two layers in the layer pallet, our image and black area copy that is. Press the Alt key on your keyboard while you are there it will make a cursor like this.

When you get that click and you should get something like this.
