Create a pencil sketch effect in 4 easy steps

By admin  //  Uncategorized  //  No Comments

Hey all ma blogger pals hope ya’ll doing fine. I’m going to show you how to give pencil sketch effect in Photoshop. This can come really handy when it comes to designing so let’s get started.

Step 01

Load your image into Photoshop I’m using a picture of some butterflies here. You can use any image in you want. First up we got to change our image in to a black n white image. You can do that by using the hotkeys (Ctrl+Shift+U) or just go to image, adjustment and select Desaturate.

Now you should have something like this

Step 02

Now you have to duplicate your image layer. Right click on you image in layer palate and select the duplicate layer in the popup menu. Now you got two layers of the same image

Step 03

In this step make sure you are selecting the top layer. While you got your top layer selected we are going to invert it. You can do that simply by using the hotkeys (Ctrl+I) or just go to image, adjustment and select Invert. When you are done with that you have to change the inverted layers blending mood to color dodge. This will make your image look white don’t worry about that it’s suppose to do that.

Step 04

Here’s where the magic happens. We are going to apply a Gaussian blur filter. Go to filter, blur and apply Gaussian blur. Now here’s the trick part I can’t really tell you the exact radius to apply it changes from picture to picture. You can mess around with it till you get the right look you want. So there you go 4 easy steps to make a picture look like pencil sketched.

Here’s how my image looks like now

How to create a lined paper

Hey all my fellow bloggers!!! yahhh that’s right I’m back with a new cool tutorial for you guys. I’m going to teach you how to create a lined paper in Photoshop so lets get started.

Step 01

I have no idea why i have to type this all the time but i have to. Open up Photoshop and create a new document. Size is totally up to you I’m using 750 x 600 for mine. For the background you can use a image or a color im using a ash color for mine.

Step 02

Take out the rectangle tool (U) and select the white color on your color pallet. after you get the color selected draw a nice white rectangle across your canvas. This is the paper base so you can mess with the size for your need.

After you get something like that its time to add a nice shadow to our paper. In order to do that take out the blending options of that rectangle layer by simply double clicking on that layer in the layer pallet.Apply the following shadow effect after you get the blending options.

When you are done with that you should get something like this.

Step 03

Time to add the lines to our paper. Just like we did before take out the rectangle tool (U) this time select a light blue color (c2daff) on your layer pallet.First draw a vertical line on the corner of the paper something just like this.

Before we continue to the horizontal lines there is something we can do to give our paper a more realistic effect.Get elliptical marquee tool out(M) and cut two small circle from the corner of the paper. One one the top.one on the bottom just like this

Now you can continue with drawing the horizontal lines to finish our paper. Here’s how it looks afterwards

Step 04

This is the best part. Now we are going to create sellotapes to stick our paper to the background.First of all take out the rectangle tool(U) and a draw a nice rectangle shape for our sellotape. After that you have to rotate your sellotape to the side to make it more realistic just like you do for real. Well we all know how to do that don’t we just go to edit-free transform or the hot-keys ctrl+T and rotate to something like this

Now the fun part time to mess with the effects to give the sellotape it’s deserved look.Just like before take out the blending options out and apply the following effects.

Here is the gradient used in above picture

After you are done with those effects time to drop the fill down to 0%

Now you should have something like this

Now it’s time to bring out your creativity. Duplicate the sellotape layer and move it to other corners, add a new background, add some text or do what ever you like to make it more creative. Here’s something i came up with

How to create board letter style in Photoshop

Hey all our blogger, I’m back with a new tutorial. I know I had some time bringing a new one up anyways sorry for that. As always I brought something really awesome. you can use this up with templates or wallpapers whatever you like so let’s get started. Today we are going to create a board letter like effect cool right?

Step 01

Open a new document in Photoshop. Canvas size is totally up to your need I’m creating a 600 x 600 px just to give a clear view. After you are done messing with that take out the rounded rectangle tool (U) and draw a rounded rectangle across you canvas Size? It’s totally up to you. Don’t worry about the color we are going to add a gradient later.

Step 02

Get the layer style of that rectangle you draw by simply double clicking the layer on layer pallet or the normal way right click and blending options after you get the blending option menu apply these following effects

After that you should have something like this

Step 03

Time to create the Separator in the middle in order to do that you have cut little rectangle off from our rounded rectangle as you can see in the images below

After you are done you should have something like this

Now draw a rectangle to connect them and make sure you select the color (383838)  im using a lighter color to make it clear for you.

Now apply the following Inner shadow effect to that rectangle.

Here’s how it looks like after you do that.

Step 04

It’s time to get the text in. get type tool out (T) and type the letter you want. You can’t type in a word because that ruins the basic Idea so you got to each letter at once. Don’t worry about the color as we did before we are going to put a gradient over it. I’m writing the letter “M” font style is totally up to you but for better results you have to use a nice bold font as I’m using Arial bold. Make sure you place your text layer is under your separator layer in the layer pallet.

Apply the following layer styles

That’s it you just created a cool board letter style in Photoshop. here’s something i have made with this style.

Two second trick to get rid of white backgrounds in Photoshop

Hey all designers, I’m going to let you in to a trick in Photoshop. Well this doesn’t work always, but sometimes it works wonders. We all get some images with white backgrounds. And in order to use them, we always have to cut that white background off. Right? As a web site designers we hate that, don’t we? Normally, we got to take the Magnetic Lasso tool out and slowly cut the thing we want off from that white background or sometimes we use Magic Wand Tool to cut off that white background. It ruins the image sometimes with the edges all torn.

Well, here is a neat trick I found to help me with that. It’s really easy. You just have to change the layers blending mood and the white background just disappears. In order do it select the layer with white background on layer pallet and change the blend mood of that layer. You can find it on the layer pallet heading or you can just right click and go to blending options and change it. Normally I use the darken blend mood to do that because it always works. This comes handy when you are creating web templates

But as always, there are some limits to this. Well to start off, this only works if you have a light background and if your image has very light colors on it. When you change the blending mood they turn gray. Well that’s neat sometimes but sometimes it doesn’t bring out what we really intended to.

Step 2

Get the type tool out (T) just type across the things you want to say, well mine says “pushed style” and the font is totally up to you I’m using “Batmat forever” font here because its kinda cool. If you want use the same font you can download it Here. Feel free to mess around with the font size.

Typing

Step 3

Now this is where the magic happens. Go the blending option by double clicking on the text layer or just right click and go to the blending option menu and apply the following effects.

Effect one

Effect two

After you are done with those you should have something like this cool isn’t it?

pushed style without droping the fill down

Step 4

This step is optional. If you really want to push those letters to an image, you got to do this. Click on the text layer and drop its fill down to 0%.

Drop Fill

After you have done that you should have something like this

Final Preview

Just mess around with this style and create something new. Let me know if you find something cool. Here’s something I made with this style.
